We are living in a climate crisis. Every day new reports are released blaming one thing or another to be the cause. Articles are stating we have twelve years, or we have until 2050 then our planet will be inhabitable. The media surrounding the climate crisis is creating a sense of existential dread. What is the individual’s role in this? Is limiting our plastic use enough? It feels as though we are in this endless cycle of information that offers no solutions. This work calls to this experience and offers a place of contemplation. As we live in a time of environmental uncertainty, it is now more than ever that we need to come together and take action, but this is easier said than done. My art creates a space to reflect, converse, and offer solutions.
This body of work includes 50 weavings made of upcycled single-use plastic bags collected from community members and collaborators.
